Construction work for a factory for the production of medium-density wood panels (MDF) from rice straw, affiliated with the Egyptian Wood Technology Company (WOTEC), which is being held in the city of Edku, Beheira Governorate. The Wood Technology Company was established to produce and manufacture medium-density wood panels (MDF) for the first time in Egypt with investments of 210 million euros, which are purely Egyptian investments, and its production capacity is 205 thousand cubic meters annually based on the amount of 245 thousand tons annually of rice straw as a raw material. • This project is the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East and the second in the world after the United States of America. It is also the first factory to use rice straw in the Middle East with German technology. The project will contribute to filling part of the needs of the local market through the project’s production and replacing part of its imports with a local product to save foreign exchange, and it will contribute to supporting complementary industries.
